Summer 2019

Another good crowd for the 26th annual family BBQ - August 3, 2019. Lots of food, family and friends. Thanks once again to Richard and Madonna Burke for opening their home to this event again this year.

The hi-lite of February, of course, was a trip to Sydney and Centre 200 to watch the first draw of the Tournament of Hearts.  Had a great time.  Thank you Tracy and Edward.

March 2019 Updates

Once again my friends I have updated my blog.  My intension this morning was to delete the blog completely, BUT, once I got into it again, I started updating the sections and gave deleting the whole blog a second thought.  I have put a lot of work into this blog since 2010 and it seemed a shame to just delete all that work.  Over the past 19 + years, I have kept track of books I read, family and friends birthdays, community members who have passed away in the current year and those who have passed away in past years (some as far back as 2004 and beyond).

Today I would like to remember two people who have passed away many years ago, although it doesn't seem that long ago in the grand scheme of life.

Hector MacNeil, Port Hawkesbury, my Aunt Minnie's husband, who passed away in 1959.  I don't remember Uncle Hector because I was only 9 years old at the time, but his passing was a family event and one I remember each year in the month of March.

Francis Xavier Burke, River Tillard, my Father-in-law, who passed away March 10, 1988, in the middle of the worst ice storm I can remember.  Xavier was a kind man and took everyday life, one day at a time.  Today I see these traits passed down to many of his children and grandchildren.

Not making any big promises right now, but I am going to try my best to keep this blog updated as much as I can for 2019 and I will keep all my Facebook Family and Friends informed when I update.  It's very hard to comment on the blog itself but comments on Facebook will be very much appreciated.  The more interested you are, the more I will blog.
