eReader Update

I promised I would let you know how I got along reading on my new eReader (it's actually called Kobo).  There are many different types of eReaders out there, you just have to make a choice.  This one I chose because it is connected to Chapters Indigo and I can use the gift cards to purchase books on line.  Most of the books are the same price you would pay at Walmart or the Superstore, but there are some free ones out there and some at reasonable prices.

Anyway, my first ebook was a Harliquin Romance.  I chose this book because it was free (LOL) and because it was a smaller book than I usually read.  I thought reading ebooks would be hard on the eyes but you can turn down the backlight on the reader to ease eye strain.  The reader is about the same weight as a large paperback and lighter than a hardcover book.  The reader I have is a touch screen, which I would recommend and WiFi, so I can purchase and download the books direct to my Kobo without going through my computer.

For anyone who does a lot of reading, it's a lot of fun, BUT, don't forget about the paperback, it can't be replaced YET !

New eReader

I have taken my reading habit up to a "tech" level.  I decided I needed an eReader, so I chose Kobo.  And I am back to my old habit of reading two books at one time, LOL, one on paper and one on the eReader.  "Once A Cowboy" by Linda Warren is my first ebook and I will let you know how I like reading from the eReader when I get into it more.  BUT as usual, I have my second ebook lined up already, Debbie Macomber's new book "A Turn in the Road".

As you can see from the blog, I have also dabbled in audio books, but I'm not a big fan yet!  I listened to the book on my ipod, but I really wasn't impressed by the readers voice or her style of reading (for lack of a better word).  Reading style is hard to explain, but I hope you get my meaning.

New Flowers

Hi all

I replaced flowers on Dad's grave stone this week.  I should have had them there by Father's Day, but, better late than never.

I also had a visit with John while I was there.  I will have to find something to put flowers in at his grave site also.

Weather Facts

Hi Folks

THE SUN IS OUT, YAY!!!!!!

Now for the bad news about May's weather.

18 days of RAIN
11 days of overcast & cloudy skies, with sprinkles of rain and a few sunny breaks here and there.
1 day of sun in the morning and rain in the afternoon
1 day of  SUN with the temp about 19 degrees.

 More facts:

April had more sunny days but the temps were very cold, even for April.

So far in June - 8 out of 11 days have been rain and/or cloudy - 2 days were sunny in the afternoon - and of course TODAY  it's Sunny.  Right now it is 15 degrees with a promise to get warmer as the day goes on.

Zendoodle-Zentangle

I have been teaching myself to do some pen and paper doodling.  This technique is called zendoodle or zentangle.  I haven't doodled anything to complicated yet, but this is the result of my first attempts.

This is very simple to do.  If you would like to try just search Youtube for "zentangles"

Four Star Mac and Cheese

Move over Kraft Dinner.   Here is a recipe that tastes much better:

3 Tbsp margarine
1/4 cup flour
2 cups milk
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan Cheese
3 cups cooked elbow macaroni
1/4 cup fresh bread crumbs

Oven:  350 deg

Melt margarine in large saucepan on medium heat.  Whisk in flour; cook 1 minute, stirring constantly.  Gradually stir in milk; cook and stir 3 to 5 minutes or until thickened.  Add 1 1/2 cups of cheddar cheese and 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese;  Cook and stir 1 minute or until cheese is melted.  Add macaroni, stir until evenly coated.  Pour into casserole dish, top with remaining cheddar cheese and bread crumbs.  Bake for 20 minutes.

April Updates

Hi Eveyone

Hope everyone is enjoying the spring weather.  Still very cold but the snow that falls now will not stay (isn't that a nice thought).

Spring Around the Corner

Hi Everyone

Is spring around the corner?  I sure hope so.  We've had enough snow and cold weather.  We need some sun and warm temps.

I have some new rosaries in my stock.  Below are pics of St. Theresa and St. Andre rosaries. I also have some St. Agatha/St Peregrin rosaries finished but no pictures yet.  St. Agatha is the patron saint of  nurses and breast cancer and St Peregrin is the patron saint of all cancers.  These new rosaries are $30.00 each, old stock rosaries are $25.00, I will post pictures of them soon.

Wall of Fame

Hey Guys and Gals

Check out my wall of fame.  These scrapbook pages are different than the ones in the slide show.  I did the slide show pages on a digital program.  These pages I scrapbooked with "real" paper and I have them hanging on my computer room wall.  I also found a place for the family picture Darlene gave us for Christmas.

New Slide Show and Music

January is sailing along very smoothly.  Today is Old Christmas, so everything "Christmas" has been placed back in boxes and plastic tubes for another year.

7 out of 11 family members (including myself) have reached milestones, so to celebrate I have posted a slide show of our 50th and one (1) 60th birthday.  Enjoy the slide show and the music.
